1- How did you first hear about SCF?

  • I first heard about SCF online and became interested so I signed up as a member.

2- What made you attend your first SCF event?

  • I just wanted try a new comp, I have never fished a comp like the SCF one. Having the chance to target all different species really let me chase the fish I knew how to catch.

3- How many different SCF events have you attended in total?

  • This year was my first event, so only the one.

4- What was your goal for this years Competition?

  • My goal was to fish hard get a place and have fun.

5- How did you prepare yourself to achieve this goal?

  • I just spent a lot of time in the boat fishing my heart out because I know it only takes one or two trophy fish to walk away with a prize at a competition like this one.

6- What is your favourite part of the event as a whole?

  • My favourite part of the event was the fact that I was in contention for the Sunshine Coast champion angler award and the fact that we didn’t have to repeatedly go back and fourth to a weigh in we just had to photograph our fish and send them through via the app.

7- What would it mean to you to hold the Sunshine Coast Champion Angler award one day?

  • It would mean a lot, it would mean that finally all my efforts have paid off and not and staying on the water for three days would finally be worth the time, patience and effort.

8- What tips can you give to people entering an SCF event for the first time?

  • Like my dad says go hard or go home, just target as many different species as possible.

9- Will you be returning to fish the event next year?

  • This years event was awesome, so yes I will 100% be coming back next year.

10- The Shimano ‘ King of Kings ‘ is up next, please give us your thoughts?

  • I will also be competing in the Shimano King of Kings with my Dad, as part of the ‘Salty Gear’ fishing team.

“Id like to thank my Dad, Simon for everything he does for me, he really puts in the effort and puts us both on to good fish, also id like to thank salty gear fishing, my family business, it means a lot to be able to have a fishing apparel business in the family.” - Jye Treloar
